Who is responsible

What we collect

  • Contact form: your name, email address and message, stored in the shop's database and emailed to the shop owners.
  • Checkout: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and any order note, stored with the order in the shop's database.
  • Payments: you pay through PayPal. PayPal handles your payment details; we do not see or store your card number.
  • Delivery address: the address you enter at checkout is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim, which looks it up to find the delivery location.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits to the site. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<container id>.
  • Fonts: the site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google when a page opens.
  • Cloudflare: requests to the site pass through Cloudflare for DNS and TLS.
  • Server logs: your IP address, browser and the pages requested, kept to run and protect the site.

Why we use it

We use your contact details and message to answer you. We use your checkout details and payment to take payment, fulfil and deliver your order, and keep records. We use analytics to understand how the site is used, and server logs to run and protect it.

By sending the Contact form or placing an order you agree that we may use the information you give us for the purposes on this page. You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to the address above.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We use these service providers:

  • PayPal (United States): processes payments.
  • Google Analytics (United States): counts visits to the site.
  • Google Fonts (United States): serves the site's typefaces.
  • Gmail (United States): email between the shop and its customers.
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim: looks up the delivery address entered at checkout.
  • Cloudflare: delivers the site and protects it from attacks.

Where it is stored

The site's server is in British Columbia, Canada. Email goes through Gmail and payments through PayPal, so some of your information is processed in the United States and is then subject to the laws of that country. Google states in its documentation that it may store and process data outside Canada.

How long we keep it

Emails and messages are deleted within 12 months. Order and payment records are kept for 6 years, the minimum the Canada Revenue Agency requires.

Cookies and analytics

Google Analytics 4 sets two cookies. Neither is essential to using the site.

  • _ga: distinguishes visitors so visits can be counted. It expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_<container id>: keeps the state of a visit's session. It expires after 2 years.

Your choices and rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, and you may withdraw consent. Write to [email protected].

Concerns and complaints

We handle personal information under the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (BC PIPA). Please contact us first. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
